The Scholastic Category for Student Participation
The Banff Jasper Relay is proud to announce The Scholastic Category as a new addition to the race for 2010. The creation of this category is to encourage high school teams to participate in this event to promote athletics, develop leadership skills and team building for High School students.

Two Phases, so you finish in the Daylight: The race is in two phases, each with their own independent starting locations. The race route has been split this way to ensure the whole course can be run in daylight hours.
Starting Points: The Southern Phase starts at Castle Junction at 7:00 am. The Northern phase starts at Saskatchewan River Crossing at 7:00 am.
Pace Requirements: The start time means captains must ensure their southern phase runners will be averaging a 5:45/km pace (9:24/mile).The northern phase will start at 7:00 a.m.. The minimum average pace for this phase is 5:55/km (9:51/mile).
Course Closures: The race course closes at 10:00 p.m., and all runners still on course must stop and be picked up by their support vehicles. Forced starts may are used on the later stages of the relay to keep the participants running togetherand to ensure that everyone gets to run.

An Environmental Assessment (EA) was prepared by Iris Environmental Consulting, to ensure the environment of the park is not harmed in any way. We are committed to undertaking any mitigation measures resulting from Parks Canada's review of the EA.
*NOTE: The Captain's Manual and the RULES therein are part of the Environmental Assessment and that is why they must be followed.

Corporate Mixed - Minimum of 10 runners work for the same company and five runners must be of the opposite sex
